Abstract

Language style is defined as the choice of words used by a particular group of people when speaking in a particular place or situation. The objectives of this thesis are to describe the types of language style found in Pinocchio movie and to identify the dominant type of language style of the characters in Pinocchio movie. To answer the question, the writer uses Martin Joos theory about language style. This thesis uses descriptive qualitative approach. The findings show that based on the language style, the movie has all types of language styles, the total data is 41 data the types such as frozen style 1 utterance, formal style 3 utterance, consultative style 6 utterance, casual style 23 utterance, intimate style 8 utterance. The most dominant type is casual style. In conclusion, those aspects are inseparable in understanding the language style used by the characters.
