Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the variations of idiolect exist in the Darunnajat Islamic boarding school. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. The data source for this research is students at the Darunnajat Islamic boarding school and the data is variations of idiolect in students' speech. The data collection method used in this study are observation, interviews, and field note. The data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman's theory. The results of this study indicate that the variations in idiolect language in the speech of students at the Darunnajat Islamic boarding school are related to the word choice, sentence structure and language style. Factors that influence idiolect variations in student speech are regional factors, educational background and individual character. Based on data taken from the Darunnajat Islamic boarding school, these language variations occur accidentally when they interact with other people both orally and in writing. Without realizing it, these variations in language are proof that language is indeed diverse and complex.
