Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze predicate logic realized on Obama’s Speech in University of Indonesia. The source of data was Obama’s speech script. The writer used Aarts theory. The writer used descriptive qualitative method, Simak Bebas Libat Cakap, and Teknik Bagi Unsur Langsung. The writer used six steps to analyze the data. The first, the writer had to download the speech script, the second the writer had to divide all the data in speech into clauses, the writer had to rewrite each clause, next the writer had to identify the parts of the clause in terms of predicate logic, the writer had to describe the predicate logic in speech, and the last the writer had to draw the conclusion. Finally, based on the result of predicate logic analysis on Obama’s speech, it could be concluded that there were 230 clauses divided in 3 types of predicate logic analysis. It was 105 clauses which belonged to one place predicate, 122 clauses which belonged to two place predicate, and 3 clauses which belonged to three place predicate.
