Abstract
The background of this study is the low speaking skills of eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sirampog which is influenced by several factors including mistakes, unfamiliarity, and the environment. The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of using film with TPR method on students’ speaking skills in eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sirampog. The research design in this study is true experimental with the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Technique of data collection is carried out by observation, test, and documentation. Technique of data analysis using Independent Sample T-test. Based on the results of hypothesis test using the T-test, it is obtained that tvalue > ttable or 4,022 > 1,667 with a significant level of 5% or 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the speaking skills of students who are taught using film with TPR method better than students who are taught without using film with TPR method to eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sirampog in the academic year 2021/2022. These results indicate that using film with TPR method is effective on improving students’ speaking skills.
