Abstract
Language is used to express thoughts, ideas, concepts, and feelings. Using language to exchange experiences means that language is organized as an interactive event involving speaker or writer and audience. This study purposes to find out and analyse mood types in Prilly Latuconsina’s Speech based on Systemic Functional Language by M.A.K Halliday. The data were interpreted by using descriptive qualitative research method. The source of data is the video of speech entitled “Break the Glass Ceiling” by Prilly that has 08.58 minutes taken from YouTube of TEDx Talks channel. The technique of collecting data by observation and documentation. The writer found that there were 129 clauses in Prilly Latuconsina’s speech. The clauses classified into three types: declarative mood are 101 clauses, interrogative mood are 10 clauses, and imperative mood are 18 clauses. The writer found that the speaker used the most dominant mood type is declarative mood.
