Abstract

This study discusses about inflectional and derivational affixes in “Break the Glass Ceiling” TEDx Talks by Prilly Latuconsina. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out how many types of derivational and inflectional affixes in “Break the Glass Ceiling” TEDx Talks by Prilly Latuconsina (2) to analysis the formation process of derivational and inflectional affixes in “Break the Glass Ceiling” TEDx Talks by Prilly Latuconsina with the theory by Castairs and McCarthy (2018). The data of this study come from “Break the Glass Ceiling” TEDx Talks by Prilly Latuconsina. This study uses descriptive qualitative research to analyze the data. The result of the study shows that the writer finds 106 data. There are 24 data for derivational affixes, 78 data for inflectional affixes, and 4 data for multifunctional affixation. The type of derivational that writer finds are 3 adverb derived from adjective, 1 nouns derived from nouns, 5 nouns derived from adjectives, 9 nouns derived from verbs, 2 adjectives derived from verbs, and 4 adjectives derived form nouns. The type of inflectional affixes that the writer finds are 19 forms of nouns, 44 forms of verbs, 9 forms of pronouns and determiners, and 6 forms of adjectives. The writer also finds 4 data of multiple affixation.
