Abstract
This study is to analyze the types of conditional sentences and its error in writing applied in subtitles of Avatar: The Way Water Movie. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Therefore, the writer uses Herring’s theory (2016) to analyze conditional sentences . The source of data in this study is the subtitle of the Avatar: The Way of Water movie . In collecting the data, the writer conducts observation to collect the data report by watching and finding subtitle at Avatar: The Way of Water movie. Then, the writer downloads the movie as documentation of the data. Based on the problem found in the background of the study, the research question. What are the types of conditional sentence used in the subtitle of Avatar: The Way of Water Movie’s? And What are the types of error in conditional sentences found in the subtitle of Avatar: The Way of Water movie’s The study’s result shows that there are 21 conditional sentences. The “first conditional”type with 16 sentences found, while 3 were found for the “zero conditional” and 2 were found for “second conditional'” Thus, in which there are a total of 21. There is only 2 types that were not found “thrid conditional”and “mixed conditional” The there are 4 categories of error, namely error of addition, error of omission, error of subtitutions, and error of ordering. The writer found errors in adding a total of 5 sentences. and error of Omission the writer found a total of 7 sentences. Meanwhile, the writer did not find other types of error. Namely, Subtitutions, and ordering.
